Unexpected bliss
A great experience overall. Very warm welcome from the host Colleen. Sadly, I could only stay for 1 night. The cottage was very inviting to stay longer and do a staycation. Fresh fruit in the fridge as a welcome goodie. Colleen gave me an orientation for a breakfast place (at the end of the street and what a treat) and dinner location also just around the corner on foot (even in the dark). So very happy to return.
Insider tip: When arriving it might look difficult for parking but there is parking spots dedicated to the venue.

I was once again absolutely delighted with my stay
As a returning guest at Nicol Street Heritage Cottages, I was once again absolutely delighted with my stay — this time in the beautiful Peacock Suite.
The room itself was wonderfully spacious, the hairdryer surprisingly powerful (a small but meaningful luxury!), and the overall sense of tranquillity was remarkable. Being in the city yet hearing no traffic at all is an added gift. One of my favourite moments was sitting on the bench outside my room, soaking in the view of our magnificent Table Mountain.
The attention to detail, along with the personal service and thoughtful touches, is something one rarely experiences these days. From the fresh bar of creamy soap presented on a lovely silver dish, to the fresh roses in the room, every detail felt considered and welcoming. I also truly appreciated the generous extras — sandwiches, fruit and nuts, a bottle of wine, and orange juice in the fridge — which made the stay feel even more special.
A special thank you to Colleen for the warm hospitality. I will definitely be back!

A little miracle of a place in a wonderful neighborhood.
I found myself with a non-existing accommodation on the same street as Heritage Cottages. I was taking a picture of that accommodation when a lovely lady came by. I explained my puzzling situation, and the fact that I had nowhere to stay in a Cape Town overbooked for the annual Mining Indaba. She told me that she had just got one of her cottages freed. She kindly took me to it. I pinched myself: the street is lovely, cobbled with old stones, buttressed at the end with stairs that join with an elevated intersecting street (and remind me of Lombard Street in San Francisco), bracketed by beautiful historic cottages in a London mews-like way. The cottage is beautifully and tastefully appointed, with a well-equipped kitchenette part of a generous lounge – wooden floor. The bedroom features a large, plush bed. The bathroom is immense, with a long and wide bath tub and a large shower. The decor is classic and modern. I am very partial to English checkboard white and black tiles. The place has the feel of a neighborhood. The security guard, Joe, is delightful. I had a couple meetings at the neighboring Cape Cadogan Hotel, which made me feel indeed as if I was family. Colleen was absolutely delightful. We sat and chatted away. This is now my favourite CT place.

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Charm
Having stayed in many excellent accommodations in Cape Town, Nicol Street Heritage Cottages is in a class of its own.
The apartment is exceptionally spacious, beautifully decorated, and offers a perfect blend of comfort and understated luxury. The location is superb — set in a very safe neighbourhood with outstanding restaurants within walking distance, including Upper Union, now one of my favourite spots in the city.
After busy days, returning to such a peaceful and elegant space was an absolute pleasure. Colleen’s warm welcome and thoughtful, attentive hospitality made the stay truly seamless.
This will be my first choice whenever I return to Cape Town and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined and memorable stay.

Honeymoon stay
Where to begin.. the stay was wonderful, especially for spending a few days in the city. Gave more room than a hotel but additional amenities like breakfast at “Our Local”. We had our own living room and kitchen and very spacious bedroom. Close to lots of great bars and restaurants, hikes up the road too. Colleen was wonderful, enthusiastic and welcoming as we arrived and followed up with recommendations throughout the stay. Thank you so much!
Insider tip: No matter what, use your credit at our local. Also, nice and quiet side street close to the action of kloof

Oh Wow What a stay!!
We loved the feeling of these cottages. Thoughtful touches; strawberries in the fridge, cut-glass wine glasses, a bottle of champers, homemade rusks! And Oh, fresh milk in the cutest little jug… And the rosemary twigs on our bed pillows, beautiful, unexpected.
The plush couches and décor, and that Table Mountain wall paper, you walk in and its “Oh my gosh, we’re here.’ Even the street bench outside felt part of the experience.
Everything we needed was effortlessly available. Easy access to the V&A Waterfront for the best shopping in Africa, take a black Uber, forget the car. And walk down to the historic Mount Nelson, (4 mins!) for one of the best cream teas ever.
TIP: Colleen showed us a charming “secret” alleyway leading directly to Upper Union, we feel one of Cape Town’s best restaurants – after four days travelling up to Mossel Bay and through the wine areas, we didn’t find better. It remains our standout restaurant. We will be back.

Cosy living spaces and the location is excellent
Comfortable sleeping and lovely décor — it’s different and very comfortable. Cosy living spaces with big couches you can really sink into. The bathroom was luxurious, shower and lovely big bath (I do love a bath!).
The location is excellent, with easy access to just about everything on your wish list for a Cape Town stay; all the attractions I wanted to visit were close by.
Staying in a spacious cottage rather than a hotel room made a big difference. I also loved the patio garden and fountain, and the plants and flowers throughout the cottage.

Beautiful, Elegant and Relaxed
Beautiful, classical and very spacious rooms, so well balanced, and intelligently set up to enable really easy operation. Gorgeous shower. I loved the atmosphere in the pedestrian street outside. You feel like you have joined a community… the friendly security guard meant I felt safe, welcome and looked after as I wandered about on foot. I loved the food and the creative nomad vibe in “The Local”, super cool restaurant cafe across the road. Such a good location in town from an accessibility perspective, stunning feeling of privacy, whilst feeling at the centre of it all.

Charming heritage cottages in the heart of Cape Town
These are the most wonderfully renovated heritage cottages, incredibly fitted out and decorated with care. They manage to combine a homely welcome, with a luxury feel, each with its own personality and charm. Little touches and attention to detail is everywhere, from a selection of books on the shelves, to beautiful wallpaper and charming original artwork, to quality appliances and bathroom amenities.
They are based right in the heart of bustling Kloof street, just around the corner and a a walkable distance to many cafes, bars and restaurants. The street itself is very charming, lit up in the evening. I can wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone visiting Cape Town.

The cottages are in an exceptional state—beautifully maintained and fabulously appointed, with everything you could possibly need, even a PC safe. Kloof Street, with its excellent day-and-night restaurants and bars, is just 60 seconds away. Breakfast at Our Local was an unexpected delight: delicious food in the most wonderfully quirky setting.
The position couldn’t be better – right in the heart of Old Cape Town – and we could Uber everywhere. Another bonus: we left our car in Nicol Street directly outside our cottage, with free parking in the centre of the city for an entire week (and with security!).
Tip: We used Uber Black. It’s about 60% more, but at roughly 6 euros a ride anywhere in Cape Town, we found it very inexpensive (coming from Switzerland).
The road where the cottages are located is truly lovely—the landscaped steps, the tree and flower pots, the twinkling lights at night… And the Wi-Fi was exceptionally fast, perfect for business.”

We stayed at the flagship of Nicol Street Heritage Cottages for a getaway night, and it was absolutely magical! The place was beautifully appointed, with all the modern comforts one could want. The private garden was perfect for morning coffee, and the location was ideal—close to cafes and shops yet peaceful. You guys went above and beyond to make our stay special. We’ll definitely be back!

We love high-end stays, and Nicol Street Cottages did not disappoint! Quality finishes all around, a plush king-sized bed with premium linens, a fully stocked kitchen, and a sleek, modern bathroom. The private patio was the cherry on top. It felt like a boutique hotel but with way more space and privacy.

We booked the Premier Cottage, and it was worth every penny. We wanted somewhere intimate and quiet, yet close to the energy of Kloof Street—this was perfection. Tucked away behind lush greenery, our cottage felt like a secluded retreat, but we were just steps from the best cafes and wine bars. The perfect balance of serenity and city life.

We booked two cottages for a family reunion, and they were perfect! Each had super-mod facilities, spacious living areas with comfy sectional sofas, and beautiful wall murals. The kids loved the Wi-Fi for gaming, and the adults appreciated the Nespresso machine and outdoor dining area. Everything felt brand new and spotless. 10/10!

A Hidden Gem: Perfect Cottage Retreat in the City
This cottage in the City was a hidden gem! It offered easy access to attractions, dining, and activities within walking distance. The decor was stunning, with vibrant colors and high-end appliances that created an uplifting atmosphere.
Colleen’s thoughtful touches—fresh flowers, monogrammed towels, a stocked bookshelf, international plug adapters, and a starter kit with tea, coffee, milk, and water—made us feel instantly at home.
We enjoyed the serene indoor courtyard with its water feature, perfect for relaxing on a rainy day with Netflix. Opting for housekeeping added convenience, and Ross, the manager, ensured our stay was smooth.
This charming self-catering retreat was exactly what we needed for a refreshing break. Highly recommended!

Welcoming and charming – what More could you ask for?
Walking into the More Quarters apartment, you feel welcomed and enveloped in comfort and luxury. The apartment was so thoughtfully furnished and it was as though our every need had been anticipated. The apartment was light, airy, spacious and just delightful. The street was so charming and felt so safe. We loved how central it was and enjoyed several of the restaurants withing walking distance. Our stay was relaxing and just what we needed.

I had a FIVE STAR experience!
Although this unit is in the heart of Cape Town, it was quiet and felt safe and secluded. Nicol Street Heritage Cottages is a must-stay! It is a 5-star experience! So much care and detail in the decor and design, with crisp white sheets, a comfy bed, and a lovely bathroom! I loved the neighbourhood and will definitely book here again.

A home from home in Cape Town
What an amazing 1 night stay. Welcomed on arrival and they had even kept me a parking spot. A lovely fresh sandwhich, milk, water and orange juice in the fridge – perfect for anyone who may have come off a long flight.
The rooms are beautifully decorated. The beds are super comfortable. I loved my little courtyard.
The rooms are super quiet because of the special glazing on the windows and glass doors. One would never know you are in the bustling Kloof Street area.
I absolutely loved the venue for breakfast. A super friendly neighbourhood. Definitely recommended for anyone who is looking for a cool, comfortable and well located apartment in Cape Town.
Actually I think I could move in and stay forever!
