Nicol Street is one of Cape Town’s little hidden gems. Framed by mature trees, flower-filled planters and a central topiary terrace, this pretty cul-de-sac feels more like a hidden village than city accommodation.

Tucked into the sandstone slopes of Table Mountain, it is naturally sheltered from the noise of the city while being just moments from the heart of Cape Town.

Nicol Street Heritage Cottages are situated in the historic Upper Gardens area of Cape Town, tucked away in a quiet, landscaped cul-de-sac close to the city centre.

The cottages are part of the area’s renowned luxury heritage triangle around Nicol Street, Mount Nelson and Upper Union, with Table Mountain, restaurants, museums, beaches and major transport routes all within easy reach.

• The six cottages are individually restored heritage homes combining old-world character with modern luxury.
• Guests enjoy the privacy and space of apartment-style living with the warmth and personal service of a boutique guesthouse. They also love the feeling of being part of a neighbourhood – with the freedom to come and go as locals do, while having everything they need close by.
• The cottages were formerly operated under the More Quarters collection and have since been upgraded to 5-star standards while retaining their relaxed, understated character and excellent value.
• There are no hotel corridors or lobby queues. Guests are personally welcomed at their cottage and have access to 24/7 concierge assistance.

Standard check-in is 14:00 and check-out is 10:00. However, we always try to accommodate early arrivals and later departures. Please check with us on the day of arrival or departure.

No. Nicol Street Heritage Cottages offers something more private and personal than a traditional hotel. Instead of hotel rooms, guests stay in individual heritage cottages with their own living spaces, kitchenettes and patios.

There are no lobby queues or conventional hotel check-in procedures. Guests are personally welcomed at their cottage, with 24/7 concierge support available when needed.

Nicol Street does not have a pool, but better than that, just 10 minutes away (take an Uber) is one of Cape Town’s most iconic tidal pools: Camps Bay Tidal Pool.

Beloved by dawn and sunset swimmers, it is also a favourite with families and one of the safest places for children to swim, with parents able to watch from the pretty little beach. There are excellent and clean changing rooms and shower facilities.

We often recommend heading there for a late-afternoon swim. Shower and change, then simply walk across the road to one of the many restaurants lining the Camps Bay beachfront – the perfect way to end a day in Cape Town.

Tip: avoid the weekend in high summer, it’s a favourite local beach.
